Spend your holiday in Bar, town on two shores and town of olives

1 DAY : Flight to Podgorica

  • Arrival at the airport in Podgorica, transfer to a private accommodation in Bar  and free time

2 DAY: Bar- City center, Old town

  • After breakfast we start discovering the city. New Bar, which people began to inhabit in the late nineteeth century is a modern city and the country’s principal seaport. First, we’ll get to know its story by walking through the city center and visiting newer sacral buildings such as Church of Saint John Vladimir and the Concathedral of St. Peter. Then we’ll find ourselves walking along the beautiful promenade near the sea that leads us to King Nicola’s Palace that was built in 1880’s  and can be visited. In the afternoon we’ll leave the city center and head to the Old Town. On our way there, we will see Old Olive tree-the symbol of the city. It is said to be over 2000 years old and it is one of the oldest trees in the world. Then we’ll proceed our journey in Old Town of Bar, a real ‘’open-air’’ museum with the remains of about 250  Lunch break in the main  cobbled street filled with markets, restaurants, souvenir shops, tavern on both sides where you can taste traditional food and taste Montenegrin wine. Then we’ll feel the wild nature of Bar as we continue to village Turcini. On our way back, visit the Archdiocese of Bar- the oldest living spiritual institution in Montenegro. Return to the hotel.

 

3 DAY-  Skadar Lake National Park, Virpazar and surrounding villages

  • This day is all about nature, food and getting to know how Montenegrins spend their days in villages. Drive from Bar to Virpazar-the main port and vacation area of Skadar lake. There we will rent a boat and our excursion lasts 1:30h. It starts and finishes with driving through channels of Virpazar, rich with water lilies(depending on season) and numerous bird species. Being the largest lake in  the Balcan Peninsula it has much to offer. Thanks to an intact ecosystem, Skadar Lake is a ‘’bird heaven’’ for 280 species of birds and in the lake basin there are more than 48 fish species. What makes this National Park so special is that you can enjoy wild beauty in a very calm and quite area where you won’t have the feeling that you are in a crowded touristic place. After our excursion in boat  we’ll continue walking towards Besac-a fortress built by the Turks in the 15th Part of Besac fortress has been revamped as an upscale restaurant and there we will have a lunch break. We can eat fresh fish from the Lake (or meat specialties) and taste the local wine called Vranac. We move on to our next stop- Vranjina, a settlement, island and a hill in Lake Skadar. It is a popular fishing spot. There we can have a look end enter a wine cellar with numerous Montenegrin wines from the largest vineyard in one piece in Europe called Cemovsko polje. We will also visit the Visitor center of 5 National Parks in Montenegro. After the visit return to Bar and freetime.

4 DAY-

5 DAY- Departure. Transfer to the airport.
